Term 4!

October 4, 2016 by kmelitsis

el-kid-vic-2016Welcome back everyone! We have a very exciting term ahead…

Next Friday 14 October, we are delighted to have Opera Australia perform their new opera ‘El Kid’ for all our students. We have learned about the characters in the opera and enjoyed listening to some of the songs in the show. In the Music room, the Level 1 and 2 students have responded to the song ‘Stupid Little Kid'(a song sung by Ferdinand and Isabella to tease their younger brother Diego) by drawing their own response to the song.

On Thursday 3 Nov at 12.30pm, we will be participating in our annual Music Count Us In event. We will stream into the website whlogo-countusin1ere we will perform in live time with other musicians all around Australia – it should be a very exciting event. Rangeview students have been utilising the comment section of this Music blog to share their ideas about this song and it’s compositional elements. Keep up the great work and don’t forget you can always visit the website if you want to sing along to the song or collect some free resources!

On Thursday 10 Nov (Time to be confirmed), I am delighted to host the Vermont Secondary College Intermediate Band. Their band will perform a few songs for us followed by a short performance by our Rangeview Band. All parents and students welcome to attend this event – this is a great event to attend as there are quite a number of former Rangeview band students now in this band. Keep an eye out for additional details in the newsletter/blog.

Wednesday 7 Dec is our Rangeview Carols Night! As always, it will be a jam packed event filled with singing and dancing from all our classes, performances from all our music ensembles, extra activities, food and drinks and maybe even a special guest! The event will begin at 6.30pm on the school oval (weather permitting). Please keep an eye out for volunteer forms in the newsletter in the next few weeks – there are plenty of jobs for parents/family members to be a part of: handing out programs, setting up and/or packing up stage, being a part of the community choir, sausage sizzle, patrolling duties etc.

For those instrumental students preparing for exams and instrumental concerts, best of luck! Instrumental teachers will confirm these dates soon. Happy Term 4!
